WVRAA in Capiz

There many athletes, couches, and governments officials come here in Capiz, from the other provinces in the whole Region VI.The Students and all people of Capiz are happy to welcome all of them in this event. (WVRAA) Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association, The province of Capiz is the host of this Meet this March 15-21, 2009. Gov. Victor A. Tanco urges Capizeños to support this prestigious event which puts the province in the regional limelight. Athletes and delegation officials coming from six provinces in Western Visayas will participate in the week-long sports and cultural competition on March 15-21, 2009 at Villareal Stadium, Roxas City.
This year, WVRAA will be hosted by the province of Capiz in cooperation with Capiz Sports School Council, headed by Capiz Governor Hon. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. and the Division of Capiz, headed by OIC and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Eveleth C. Gamboa.
About 2,500 delegations composed of athletes, coaches, chaperons, trainers, officials and guests are expected to witness the opening ceremony on March 15 at the newly renovated Villareal Stadium. Six provinces in Western Visayas – Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental and Capiz will compete in 18 sports discipline – Archery, Arnis, Atletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Chess, Football, Gymnastics, Sepak Takraw, Sipa, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and in in literary, musical and dance contests, both in Elementary and Secondary levels.
All sports events will be played in 10 different playing venues. Arnis will be played at College of St. John-Roxas; Badminton at Playgium, Arnaldo Blvd.; Baseball (S-B) at Cong. Ramon Arnaldo HS; Boxing at Capiz Provincial Park; Gymnastics at Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center; Sepak Takraw at Capiz National High School; Table Tennis at FCC Covered Gym; Taekwondo at CapSU-Main Campus; all the rest of the ten sports events will be played inside the Villareal Stadium.
The fellowship night and the cultural competition will be held at the Capiz Gymnasium slated in the evening of March 15 and March 16-18, 2009, respectively.
